Connecting your own domain name (for example, votreboutique.com) to your Chariow store is a key step to boost your brand and make your online presence look more professional. It builds trust with your customers and makes it easier for them to find your shop.
In your main dashboard menu, click on "Settings".
Under "Store Customization", click on "Domain name".
In the "Custom domain" section, click on the "Link a domain" button. A window will open.
In the "Your domain name" field, enter your domain or subdomain (for example, afriklic.site or boutique.afriklic.site). Don't include "https://" or "www".
Click on "Add". A new page will show up with the DNS records (A and/or CNAME) that you'll need to use.
Log in to your domain provider’s dashboard (GoDaddy, LWS, Hostinger or others).
In the DNS management area, add the A and/or CNAME record(s) provided by Chariow.
To avoid conflicts, we recommend removing any existing DNS record with the same name as the one provided by Chariow before adding the new one.
Once these updates are done with your domain provider, go back to Chariow and click "Verify".
If the setup is correct, you'll get a green badge "Verified".
If you don't have a domain name yet and want to get one, Chariow has a list of recommended providers to make things easier:
In the "Custom domain" section, click on the "Get a domain" button. A window suggesting some providers will open.
Click the provider you want (Namecheap, GoDaddy, etc.) to be redirected to their website and buy the domain name that fits your brand best.
DNS propagation time: Changes made to your DNS records can take anywhere from a few minutes to up to 24 hours to be fully spread across the internet. Don’t worry if, after getting the "Verified" badge, your site doesn’t show right away or says "not secure."
Benefits: A custom domain boosts your brand, makes your address easier for your customers to remember, and also improves your organic ranking (SEO).
